Snow Creatures

Calvin finally looked up from his sketchbook when Jason came noisily into the bedroom. He cracked his gum absently, switching from his current project to sketching his lover without glasses, stretching and rubbing his eyes. "Done?"

"Not yet. I can't believe some of these papers. I mean, don't they even teach people basic theory anymore?" He sat down beside Calvin on the bed. "Why are you here, anyway?"

Calvin gave Jason a snarky look. "Because I live here?"

Jason seemed to have his snark shields in place still, as it didn't faze him for a moment. "You know what I mean. It's been snowing for the last four hours. I would have expected you to be taking full advantage of that."

Calvin's look turned smug as he looked back down at his sketchbook. "I already did."

"Huh?"

"While you were being oh-so diligent and grading while totally ignoring me, I went out and played in the snow. Why do you think I'm in here under blankets now?" He went back to drawing his monster eating what looked like a bunch of deer and elk.

"Oh." Jason blinked, then frowned. "That's weird. I didn't hear you leave, or see any shambling snow creatures outside."

"I did, and they're out there."

"Where? You can see the whole front of the building from the kitchen and I didn't s--"

Faintly, they heard a shrill scream from a neighboring lot. Before Jason could say anything, Calvin spoke up. "It's her fault for putting up christmas decorations so soon. Santa's going to need new reindeer this year."
